Black Women’s Agency, Soul Food, and Cultural Expression: A Black History Month Talk

On February 20th, Dr. Maxine Morgan, Assistant Professor of African American Literature and African American Studies, will discuss her current book project, Vibrational Reprieves, which explores the multidimensional ways that Black women novelists and artists from the post-Black arts era to the contemporary digital age locate Black women’s sexual agency and autonomy in African diasporic food practices, namely, soul food. This event takes place in the JA Brown Room in Carmichael Library at the University of Montevallo and is hosted by AAUW.
