After the 2024 Montevallo MLK day parade, the Shelby County NAACP awarded the Montevallo Legacy project with an award of community service.
The NAACP said, “The Legacy Project gathers and shares stories about Black history and experience in the Montevallo area. The stories are published monthly in Montevallo’s Chamber Chatter under the title “Untold Stories of Black Montevallo.” The Project sponsors community events designed to give voice and visibility to the African American community in Shelby County. It has partnered with the NAACP to provide as many as three scholarships to aspiring high school seniors who wish to pursue higher education in 2024.”
The MLP is honored to recive this award, and is dedicated to continuing our work of preserving our community’s history.
