Murder on Shades Mountain: The Legal Lynching of Willie Peterson and the Struggle for Justice in Jim Crow Birmingham

Melanie Morrison will be giving a talk based on her book, Murder on Shades Mountain, at the Homewood Public Library on June 10 at 1:00pm. The event is free and open to the public.

She will read excerpts from Murder on Shades Mountain: The Legal Lynching of Willie Peterson and the Struggle for Justice in Jim Crow Birmingham. She will also talk about challenges faced in researching and writing this book about tragic and gripping events that shook Depression-era Birmingham to its core in 1931.

This talk is part of a summer series called “Tales from the Writing Life” and is supported by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Alliance. You can learn more about my presentation and the series HERE.
