Shape Our Community's Narrative: Storytelling Internship Open Now!

The Montevallo Legacy Project (MLP), in partnership with the Jean O'Connor-Snyder Internship Program, is thrilled to announce an exciting internship opportunity for August 2024 - May 2025. We’re looking for two enthusiastic interns to join our heartwarming project, Our Stories, Our Strength: Building Community through Storytelling. If you’re a current UM undergraduate with a passion for community engagement and storytelling, we’d love to hear from you! Apply here.

As an intern, you’ll receive a $2,000 stipend and get to immerse yourself as a community organizer in the vibrant Montevallo community. You’ll develop a storytelling campaign, collaborate with local residents, and use your creativity to share their stories through multimedia techniques. You’ll also design and moderate live storytelling events, all with the support and training from our dedicated team at UM’s Office of Engaged Education and Public Service, MLP staff, the Dave Mathews Center, and UM’s Department of Communication.

Ready to join us? Submit your cover letter, resume, and a sample of your storytelling work here by September 6th. For more information, reach out to Joyce Jones, director of the Office of Engaged Education and Public Service at the University of Montevallo. Let’s make a difference together through the power of stories.
