Introducing 'Little Franklin's Town': a coloring book celebrating Black Montevallo's untold stories

We are excited to share Little Franklin’s Town, a coloring book that brings to life the untold stories of Black Montevallo. Through beautifully illustrated pages, this book invites children and adults alike to connect with the rich history of the community—its people, places, and shared experiences.

Inspired by the Untold Stories of Black Montevallo series, Little Franklin’s Town follows a young boy on a journey through nearly two centuries of history. “Little Franklin,” is based on Oscar Franklin Fluker, a lifelong Montevallo resident whose story, like so many others, is woven into the fabric of this town.

This book offers more than just pictures to color—it provides an opportunity to engage with the past, reflect on the contributions of Black Montevallo, and imagine a future where every story is valued.

Join us in celebrating this special project at upcoming Montevallo Legacy Project events, including Black History with an Alabama Accent on February 27th, where it will be available for purchase.
